The Brave Little Goat of Monsier Séguin
by Alphonse Daudet
translated and adapted by Eriko Kishida
illus. by Chiyoko Nakatani

Attractive paintings complement this old French tale, written originally by Alphonse Daudet. There was once a man named Monsier Séguin who had a goat that he loved very much. For this reason, he would not allow the goat to go up into the mountains where there were dangerous wolves. One day, however, the goat ran away to the mountains where he frolicked about all day, enjoying his new found freedom. Toward night, as it was expected, a wolf appeared. The goat put up a brave fight but finally, terribly exhausted, he was defeated. |
