The Persimmon Tree
by Manabu Miyazaki

There is an 80-year-old persimmon tree on the hill. As the seasons go by, it sees a fox in the snow, a meteor in the clear sky, and a stray cat chasing a field mouse. No one cares about its deliciously ripe fruit anymore. While other trees have been sold and made into golf clubs, and its owner has moved to the city, it alone still stands. |
