Ken Kuroi Ken Kuroi
Born in 1947 in Niigata. After graduating with an art degree, Kuroi worked in a publishing company before leaving to take up freelance illustration. Now a popular illustrator, esteemed for his heart-warming finger-smudged technique and sensitive colouration, Kuroi’s collaborative works with Nancy Carlstrom, “Swim the Silver Sea, Joshie Otter” (Putnam) and “Midnight Dance of the Snowshoe Hare” (Philomel) are published in America. In 2003, his gallery, Ken Kuroi’s Picture Book House, opened, where his work is constantly displayed.
