Shinta Cho Shinta Cho
Born in Tokyo in 1927, Cho worked as manga cartoon artist, and in 1960 was awarded an international manga prize by an Italian manga organization.
After that he concentrated on picture books, but was active in a number of fields including nursery stories, manga and essays.
He created both illustrations and text, and was especially noted for his 'nonsense' picture books, winning numerous prizes in Japan.
He passed away in 2005.
